| 9/10 may: Anyway, it was all fun fun
at nerd central, internet up down, up down every 10 minutes, rang the
provider [orcon] trying to have a solid game of battlefield to no
avail, orcon sayes ; what problem ?? of yes you have had a few
disconnects, its probably the wet weather driving everyone inside to
the internet and there's a lot of peoplegoing thru the exchange....
excuse me, whys that my problem?? don't we
pay for a service even in this 3rd world internet depleted country?
Tried everything I was asked to do even moving the router unplugging
phones etc, this by the way had been going on for 2 days, trying
different routers.. to no avail. Dnt forget we have been going fine for a long time, without to many hassles, only for this to happen all of a sudden.. Sunday rolls along, everythings fine, ring Orcon again, explain the situation for the 5th time, and the response this time was: "Oh if you no longer have a problem, then theres nothing we can fix then" Thanks steve your a great help Ever get the feeling your being toyed with by large corporate giants? Mikey. Orcon: Telling people the truth is NOT a crime, if you have a problem at least admit it 22 June: Nick has Broadband at home, turn's out that telecom was too lazy top check the line correctly to see if they could have broadband [should this surprise anyone?], at least ORCON came to the rescue and installed broadband for them. So its BF2 and away we go.... June: By the way Ive been running a TOR and an i2p node [Encypted network nodes, for those not in the know], Ive switched the TOR node off temporarily as I think I maybe overloading things a bit 17 June: Slight mail problem easily fixed in the end, some of you may not have even noticed [couldn't send mail], anyway thanks pete for pointing that out 20 July: Finally, as many know we have been having router issues which have been solved: we have a new one "draytek 2700" which appears to work rather well. The linksys product proved troublesome and unreliable, overheating and locking up continuously. For anyone wondering the draytek vigor series have some excellent features, and are a resonable price. |
